1.- ¿Cuando y que exactamente los motivo a producir musica?
Yo Filip Mardber y Federic Gilenholt ambos fuimos atraidos a la musica electonica y experimental bastante jovenes, en los 90s fuimos a algunas raves underground en almacenes y bailavamos enfrente a un par de bocinas casi todos los fines de semana. La decision de comenzar a hacer musica y expresar nuestros sentimientos atraves de ella vino a nosotros de manera natural.
2.- ¿Por que TICON?
Hemos tenido muchos nombres diferentes atraves de los años pero el primer nombre que pudimos poner en una grabacion fue Tripticon, en los 90s estabamos haciendo un GOA trance muy duro. Viviamos en Malmoe en Suecia and Son Kite estaba apenas empezando su nuevo "label" Digital Structures en el 2000 y estaba en busca de nuevos talentos. Nosotros los conociamos por las fiestas aqui en el area, y Fredrik estaba tambien trabajando en una tienda de musica vendiendo sistetizadores para ese entonces y entonces vinieron a preguntarnos si podiamos hacer musica que no corriera a 150 BPM (Beat por minuto).
Nos dieron un casete con algo de musica que a ellos les gustaba y nos preguntaron si podiamos hacer algo parecido (La musica en el casete era Massimo Viviona, Der Dritte Raum y del estilo). Hicimos un track y ellos de inmediato nos aceptaron, entonces teniamos que darle un nuevo nombre a nuestro proyecto por su puesto usamos nuestro antiguo Tripticon y le quitamos el "trip" y lo dejamos como "Ticon".
3.- ¿Que artistas consideran sus mayores influencias?
Nos gusta muchos tipos diferentes de musica y encontramos inspiración en todos los tipos de generos (incluso Frank Sinatra tiene su parte) pero en la escena somos grandes fanáticos de bandas como Protonica y Loud por el momento, ellos tienen algo en sus sonido que nos parece una aproximacion diferente la musica trance.
4.- ¿Como describirías tu musica y cual es su actual genero música?
Siempre desde que comenzamos a hacer musica hace 20 años hemos estados buscando el sentimiento y la emoción de una canción, esto es lo que nos guía, crear nuevos enfoques hacia la musica trance y como mejorar y como mejorar ambos técnicamente y al mismo tiempo que sea reto personal. Fuera de todos los "hits" que hemos tenido con Ticon también hemos tenido aquellas composiciones que pensamos que a nadie le gustarías. Como músicos y productores es realmente importante creer en ese cambio y tener diferentes enfoques es algo bueno y siempre intentar evolucionar con Ticon, pero algo que siempre ha sido importante ha sido el "groove" (toque personal) en nuestra musica, siempre tratamos de mantener la energía así mismo el "flow" (flujo) y la emoción en nuestra musica.
5.- ¿Como describirían sus mejoras durante los últimos años?
Han pasado muchas cosas durante el año pasado, terminamos con nuestro sexto álbum de duración completa con Ticon el cual sera mas como "back to roots" (volver a la raices) Ticon trance. También hicimos muchas colaboraciones con grandes artistas y también un montón de remixes, un completo nuevo proyecto ha naciado llamado "Chritical Choice" donde trabajamos juntos con DJ Emok.
6.- ¿Que es lo que buscan transmitir cuando están en el escenario?
La energía entre la gente en el "dance floor" y quien esta tocando es una fuerza guía para nosotros, también amamos intentar nuevas ideas e improvisar en el escenario, de hecho encontramos un montón de ideas nuevas cuando estamos tocando en vivió, incluso mas que cuando estamos en el estudio.
7.- ¿Que están preparando para su siguiente presentación en Ultra Music Festival México?
Como mencionamos anteriormente nuestro nuevo álbum esta casi terminado así que mucho material nuevo sera tocado, pero por su puesto que los viejos hits de Ticon serán puestos en orbita también! :)
8.- ¿Tienen algún proyecto alterno?
Tenemos un nuevo álbum con nuestro otro proyecto llamado "Chritical Choice" (Ticon & Dj Emok) donde exploramos el "old school scandotrance" el cual es muy conocido en Suecia y Scandinavia. Tenemos un release pendiente con Chritical Choice y un segundo álbum que sera liberado el siguiente año.
9.- ¿Que festival te ha dejado un gran recuerdo?
Ozora festival en Hungria, este anio fue muy especial, el amor y la energía que estuvieron presentes fueron increíbles. Boom festival el añoo pasado estuvo increíble, les recomendamos que vallan a cada uno por lo menos unas vez.
10.- ¿Si no fueran músicos, que creen que estarían haciendo ahora?
Probablemente seriamos catadores de cerveza!

Both Me (Filip Mardberg) and Fredrik Gilenholt were drawn to electronic and experimental music at quite a young age. Back in the 90«s we went to underground warehouse raves and danced in front of a pair of speakers almost every weekend. The decition to start making music and expressing our emotions thru music came natural for us.
2.- ¿Why TICON?
We have had many different names through the years but the first name that we could put on a record was Tripticon back in the 90«s. We were making some really hard goa trance music back then. We live in Malmoe in Sweden and Son Kite was just starting up their new label Digital Structures in 2000 and were looking for new talents. We knew them from parties here in the area and Fredrik was also working in a music store selling synthesisers at the time and the guys came up one day and asked us if we could make some music, which was not in 150bpm :) They gave us a dat tape with some music they liked and asked if we could try and make something like it (the music on the tape was Massimo Viviona, Der Dritte Raum and such). We made a track and they signed us emediatly. Then we had to make a new name for this project of corse and we used our old Tripticon and remove the "trip" and left was Ticon.
3.- ¿What artists you consider your major influences?
We like a lot of different music and we find inspiration in all kinds of music genres (even frank Sinatra has played a part) but in the scene we are big fans of bands like Protonica and loud at the moment, they have something in their sound that appears, to us and a different way of approaching trance music!
4.- ¿How do you describe your music and what is your current music genre?
Ever since we started making music 20 years ago we have been chasing the feeling and emotion of a song, this is what drives us, to create new approaches to trance music and how to improve both technically but also to challenge yourselves. Out of all the hits we have had with Ticon it has always been the ones that we thought nobody would like. As a musician and producer it is really important to beleave that change and different approaches is a good thing and we always try to evolve with Ticon but one thing, that has always been important is the groove in our music, we always try and keep the energy as well as the flow and emotion in our music.
5.- ¿How do you describe your improvements during the last years?
There has been a lot going on the past year, we are soon finished with our 6«th full length Ticon album which will be more "back to the roots" ticon trance. We also made a lot of collaborations with great trance artists swell as a ton of remixes. A brand new side project has been born called Chritical Choice where we work together with Dj Emok.
6.- ¿What do you want to transmit when you're performing?
The energy between the people on the dance floor and the performer is a driving force for us, we also love to try out new ideas and improvise on stage. We actually find a lot of ideas when we perform live, more so than when we sit in our studio!
7.- ¿What are you preparing for your next presentation on Ultra Music Festival Mexico?
New material will be played but ofcorse the old Ticon hits will be blasted into orbit as well :)
8.- ¿Do you have any alternative projects?
have an album out with our side project Chritical Choice (Ticon & Dj Emok) where we explore the olshool ÒscandotranceÓ which is quite known from sweden and Scandinavia. We have an upcoming single with Critical Choice swell and a second album will be released next year.
9.- ¿What festival have left you a great memory on you?
Ozora festival in Hungary this year was very special, the love and energy in this place is amazing. Boom festival last year was also of the roof! We recommend every one to go there at least one!
